For our Founders, Naul and Perry, the work we do at Marrick has always been personal.
Naul started a career as an insurance adjuster in early 2000s, and his world changed when Colorado’s insurance laws shifted in 2003, making once-accessible medical care for injury victims a luxury and leaving countless patients stranded without help.
Naul’s turning point came when he encountered a man, injured and in pain, unable to secure an MRI due to a lack of insurance. This man’s story resonated deeply with Naul. One of the insured drivers had rear-ended him, and Naul was responsible for handling a claim. His back pain, stemming from the accident, was unbearable, and he needed an MRI for a proper diagnosis. The catch? He had no health insurance, and no MRI center in Denver was willing to see him without upfront payment.
Naul assured the man that he would take care of the situation. He personally called every MRI center in Denver, explaining the circumstances and emphasizing that the at-fault insurance company where he worked would cover the MRI costs as part of the settlement. Despite Naul’s guarantees of payment, every MRI center turned the injured man away, recognizing that waiting for years to receive the guaranteed payment once the legal case was settled was simply not feasible. It was then that Naul realized the severity of the problem, and he couldn’t shake the feeling that something needed to change.
In the fall of 2003, he pieced together a business plan and found his business partner, Perry, who not only shared Naul’s vision but was also able to secure the capital necessary to start Marrick – a company with the mission to navigate healthcare for people in their time of need.
Their innovative approach involved factoring medical receivables and providing a lifeline to both medical providers and patients. This unique model ensured immediate payment for medical providers and timely access to crucial care for patients.
Today, alongside thousands of medical providers and law firms, Marrick serves patients nationwide, offering essential medical care following unforeseen collisions. Marrick’s journey has touched thousands, helping patients focus on recovery and regain their health. As our story unfolds, we remain privately owned by Naul and Perry, dedicated to our mission, and accountable solely to our clients rather than investors.
